p. 157, bottom example – Should be approximately equals 4.33 cubic yards, not 10 cubic yards.

p. 202, sidebar – Should be “than your costs minus.”

p. 204, second example – Should end, “than if he had an apprenticeship.”

p. 216, underneath first example – Should be $86,000 instead of $80,000.

p. 263, green box with >>> – Should say “If the numerator is 1, the” rather than that all the numerators are 1.

p. 288, first example – $5.30 should be $53. Other numbers should be adjusted accordingly.

Teacher Guide

p. 367, Quiz 17 – Each correct answer is worth 10 points.

p. 379, Test 4. problem 3c – The rearranged version of the equation should be given: years to double: 72/annual growth rate

Page 52, Day 17, problem 3c – The instructions should be changed to “Do not round the item this time, although you may round the 10% you calculate.”

Page 91, Day 39, Problem 2b – In future printings, this will be updated to be in the 10% bracket, as there isn’t currently an 11% tax bracket.

Page 123, Day 58, problem 2c – Should ask for average quarterly, not monthly, commission.

Page 362, Day 120, Quiz 13, Problem 5a
The DTI ratio should be monthly debt divided by monthly income, not the other way around.

Answers/Solutions Manual

Day 17 (TG page 404; SM page 12), problem 3c – The answer should be $6.13, with this solution:
10 x $6.53 ~ $0.63 or $0.70

$0.70 divided 2 ~ $0.35 or $0.40
$6.53 – $0.40 = $6.13

Note: Students were instructed not to round the item, as if you do in this case, you’ll end up with a reduced price that’s greater than the original price. It’s always important when rounding to make sure your answer makes sense!

The actual answer should remain $6.20; any answer reasonably close to this counts as correct, as students may round differently.

Day 51 – The Budget column was omitted to help the table fit in the column, but the % columns are found by taking the budgeted amounts listed on the actual worksheet divided by either net or gross income.

The following %s are also listed incorrectly:

Problem 1c should also be changed to -620, and d should have a negative sign in front of it.

Day 64, Problem 2c

Total sales: $500,000 + $525,000 + $400,000 + $325,000 + $520,000 = $2,270,000

Commission (4%): 0.04 × $2,270,000 = $90,800

Average monthly commission: $90,800 ÷ 12 = $7,566.67

Day 79, Lesson 9, Exercise 4, Problems 2c and 2d
2c: 8.6 x 3 APPROXIMATELY EQUAL 9 x 3 = 27 Actual answer: 25.8

2d: 7.1/3 APPROXIMATELY EQUAL 6/3 = 2
Actual answer: 2.37

Day 108, Problems 1d and 1f
1d should be 60% and 1f should be 33.33%, as the profit margin is the profit divided by the sales price, not the retail price as was used to obtain the incorrect answers listed.

Test 1, problem 5a – Problem should read deduction, not credit. Reading credits, does not would be a closer answer than does, although it’s really not a good question for credits. (Whether you qualify for a credit might depend on your income, but whether you itemize deductions would not affect it at all.)

Test 2, problem 16 – Answer is per months, not months.

Final Exam, problem 1f – Answer should include a $ sign.
