International Homeschooling Report

Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:9 NKJV

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to travel to foreign places. I longed to know what other countries and people were like and how they acted. Most books only showed pictures of the famous sights–what was ordinary life like? What sort of things did ordinary people face?

After I had completely surrendered over my desire to travel to the Lord, He miraculously opened up a door for me to visit Hungary, then Thailand, and most recently Spain. In each location, I had the privilege of working with homeschooling families. Many of these families were missionaries; others were locals. Some lived in isolated locations; others lived around other believers. Many had pursued homeschooling simply because their circumstances forced it upon them; others saw it as God’s plan for raising children.

Despite the differences, I found it amazing that, no matter where I went, people had the same questions and concerns. Although the specific pressures God places in people’s lives varies drastically, we all still struggle with the same basic issues.

Yet no matter where we are or what our circumstances, God has the same grace ready to pour out on us. He knows the way that we take (Job 23:10) and has custom-engineered our circumstances, whatever and wherever they might be, to work upon our hearts.

It is my prayer that God will unite His people around the globe to stand firm in the faith–to trust Him and rely on His strength. I hope the little glimpses from other cultures that I post here will encourage you to both pray for your brothers and sisters around the world. Above all, may they encourage you to stand firm in God’s strength wherever He has placed you.

By His grace,

Prayer requests for international homeschoolers:

Please pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are homeschooling their children or considering homeschooling them.

  • Pray that they would remain strong and focused on the Lord.
  • Pray that the Lord will provide them the encouragement and support they need.
  • Pray that the Lord will fight the legal battles that need fought and help His children remember that He is the King of kings.
  • Please pray for homeschooling families in Lithuania. There are two precious families there who are basically pioneering homeschooling. One just recently had trouble with getting the school board to grant them permission to homeschool, but, by God’s grace, the board came around and gave them the okay they needed. Please pray that God will encourage both these families and grant them the strength to keep focused on Him as they raise their children for His glory.
