Thoughts: Short Drops of Encouragement

Let Those Cares Go!
Cares come in all sorts of different sizes and shapes. We can be careful about all the things we need to do, careful about what we've said or done, careful about other people, careful about our health--we seem to attract cares like a magnet! At the time, the cares on our shoulder seem heavier than anything else in the entire world could possibly be.

Getting It Right
I wanted to be the best assistant I could be. I wanted to be helpful. I wanted to have the right words to say. I wanted to get it right!

I had fallen into a dangerous trap--and I was carrying burdens I didn't need to bear.

He's Orchestrating Each Detail
It always amazes how beautifully all the different sounds of a nicely put together orchestra fit together. If an individual tone of the orchestration were isolated by itself, it would often seem harsh or unnecessary. Yet when mixed together by a skillful composer, the individual notes and sounds become music. Like a master composer, God knows just how to orchestrate our days much better than we do.

Stories: Short Read-Aloud Stories with a Message

The Folly of Carrying Cares
Bridget had a problem--a problem that kept getting bigger and bigger. All day long, she kept getting packages called CARES handed to her. The CARES came in all sorts of shapes and sizes and from all different sources. And, rather than handing each new package to her father, who kept offering to carry them for her, Bridget insisted on carrying them herself. After all, it was part of being responsible, wasn't it?

Nothing Can Separate
From her bedroom window, Rebecca eyed the children playing in the snow enviously. How she longed to play with them!

“Now, Rebecca,” she remembered her father telling her that morning. “You can’t play in the snow today.”

The Joy of Trusting
Brittany loved to play her violin. She used to spend hours upon end playing song after song. The part she loved most was practicing with her father. He would adjust her bow or fix her form. In his presence, the notes she played became beautiful music.

Homeschool Tips: Encouragement for Homeschool Moms

Playing to One Audience
Have you ever felt like you couldn't please anyone no matter how hard you were trying to please everyone? Or have you ever worked hard to make someone happy and failed? Just making dinner at my house can be a challenge if I'm trying to please my family's varying tastes. You simply can't please everyone all the time. And sometimes you can't please anyone! Rather than experiencing the joy of being a servant, you end up frustrated, feeling like a failure.

A Dry Perspective
Ever have days where it seems that miscommunications abound?  Someone says something and you take it totally wrong.  Or you say something and you can tell the person doesn't understand what you mean. Communication is important--especially communication to our children. And we often forget communication is more than words. Homeschooling is an opportunity to minute by minute communicate God's love to your children, and problems can really mount if we have "dry" perspective--a perspective not watered by God's Word.

Hymns/Poems: Encouragement from Poems and Music

Day by Day
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.

Father! I know
Father! I know that all my life
Is portioned out for me;
The changes that will surely come
I do not fear to see;
I ask thee for a present mind,
Intent on pleasing thee.
